In addition to the academic rigor at Summit, students have available to them a number of activities to help them grow into well-rounded individuals: Electives To provide a high quality extracurricular experience, Summit has partnered with the Riekes Center in Menlo Park, Academic Trainers in Menlo Park and the Community School of Music and Arts in Mountain View; both provide exceptional opportunities for student participation in extracurricular and intersession programs. The following were elective courses offered in 2006-07: * Musical Theater* (three levels) * Arts in Action* (three levels) * Blank and White Photography* * Musical Industry* - Hip Hop or Rock * Yearbook * SAT Prep * Habitat for Humanity * Instrumental Music* * Film Making* * Indicates class has met the UC requirements for Visual and Performing Arts Student-Initiated Activities Balance is a cornerstone of Summit Preparatory High School. In addition to academics, students are encouraged to explore and develop a wide variety of athletic, creative, cultural and civic activities. All students participate in extracurricular activities that support the goals of their Personalized Learning Plan. Students organize activities ranging from Blood Drives through Stanford, to fundraisers for social causes. Clubs Students are encouraged to start clubs that satisfy an interest of theirs. Many of these clubs are born out of the interests expressed through a student's Personalized Learning Plan. Some of the student-run clubs that we have at Summit Prep include: * Student Government * Poetry Club * Art Club * Amnesty International * Asian Club * Model U.N. * Dance Team * Social Committee * Jazz Band * Chorus * Speech & Debate And more clubs are forming all the time!
